WINNERS OF BABU ROLLING TROPHY 2016

Our Motto: “United we stand, divided we fall”
It was honor to be part of Rolling Trophy at Pemagatshel District, 2016.  I know I was and am fan of Lionel Messi but my dream to be the footballer remains just a dream forever.  However, I am always glad to be part of it from early school time to college and even at workplace. Today let me share some moments of Babu Rolling Trophy 2016, the event organized by Yurung Central School. For reader’s information, let me share the objectives of Babu Rolling Trophy which was posted on social media Facebook. And it is as follows:
  1. Commemorate three auspicious Tendrel of 2016
  2. Pay tribute to late Dasho Babu Tashi, the founder of the school
  3. Bring together, established and widen community bond
  4. Promote active lifestyle
Personally, I found the objectives of organizing Babu Rolling Trophy were so special and dedicated to all important people. We were reminded to make a tribute to remember their special contribution in the service of tsa-wa-sum. I am here to appreciate school management team and sports coordinator for organizing such tournament and I will be glad to see similar events in the future too. There were good numbers of teams and among them; Corporateion United was one of it.  Our team Corporation United was comprised of all staffs from corporate sectors and other private sectors under Pemagatshel District. Generally, we can accept that it is difficult to cooperate each other since we are from different organizations, but fortunately we could do it. It was miracle.  How? That was mainly because of the good intention of all to be part of the team. So I appreciated what we had done. And we had reaped the fruit of our hard work and cooperation. Having said that, if I was given chance to share some feedback to organizer for your future benefit, I would have shared as following;
  1. Overall management was up to mark.
  2. Although, referees had done their best, but for some cases, I found some of the referees did not exercise some of the important rules of football. So, I would suggest why not organizer can select permanent referees throughout the game in order to reduce the partiality and other inconveniences.
  3. To motivate individual performance on game, the organizer should have taken effort on individual’s prize
  4. It would have been convenient if the organizer had distributed all rules and regulation during team manager meeting.
Above feedback are just my general observation seen during the tournament. Hope organizer will take it in positive way for a future tournament. Whatsoever, I am glad to share that my team Corporation United came as the winner of Babu Rolling Trophy 2016 with the cash price of Nu. 25000.00. We would like to thanks the organizer, our sponsors, supporters and my team members for making up and achieving our team goal. Always hoping the same spirit in the near future.

FOR MY COLLEGE FRIENDS

It was on 3rd July 2015 that something incredible happened in my life: the day where I had officially graduated from Royal Thimphu College with Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance. Three years, six semesters were fully packed with more than 101 projects and various exams including unit tests. It was a herculian task for me. Royal Thimphu College was the source of inspiration. My three years stay at RTC was a crucial part of my life because it prepared me mentally and physically for my future endeavor.

Many people said that the college time was the best time to enjoy and do what you want to do. But, for me, college time was not a piece of cake as all thought, but we had to complete lots of assignments, projects, to do research and tests on time.  However, we were always guided and supported by lecturers and friends. I am always looking forward to seek their help at any point in time. Thank you, Royal Thimphu College for making me who I am today.

Currently, I am working at Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan as a Branch Manager at Pemagatshel district. With my little experience and wisdom, I would be happy to share few lines to all my dear college students:
1.    Time to explore: College time can be the best time to explore on your interest. Many subjects you can study in college — like history, literature, languages, business, laws, or art with your individual capacity or with help from lecturers.
2.    Take advantage of the time to become the most amazing version of yourself:  College time could be just an incubation period, where you can develop mentally or physically. So, you must take advantage of your college time to be a new version of your life.
3.    Manage your time: One of the worst parts of college life could be not being able to manage the time with productive works. The college time shall be precious time to remind yourself the reason being in college in the first place: to graduate. Therefore, your academic work should always come in first place, when it comes to prioritizing your time.
4.    Focus on making the relationship with Lecturers and friends: Usually, we can believe that the college life is golden life, we must make the full chance to socialize with your lecturers and friends. College can be one of the greatest opportunities to build lifetime relationships. So, get the most out of advantages.
5.    Create yourself, not your resume: Many students participate in extracurriculars activities; be it in school or college level just to impress future employers. However, if we focus more on developing themselves as strong, well-rounded, we will have more advantages in interviews and the working world.
6.    Make your college proud to have you: Never be part of failure rather try to be one of those students that your professors and classmates will remember in years to come. Give an impact of your presence in any places you may live.

For My friends
What you think and what you do matter a lot in your life. Just thinking positive and doing things positively wouldn’t help but you must put extra effort in your life. College life can be the golden life only if you can make use of it. I found college life as the most challenging part of my education life with full of assignments and exams. However, I too have enjoyed my college life by exploring and learning from the different sources of knowledge. Thank you, Royal Thimphu College, Youth Development Fund and Ministry of Education for sponsoring my education. You had made me who am I today. Thank you all.

About Dungsum Pemagatshel (Blissful Land of the Lotus)

Pemagatshel Dzongkhag
Let me share something about Dungsum Pemagatshel where I am currently working. Firstly, the name Dungsum, is very profound and heart soothing to people of this valley for generations. All my families and relative were born and brought up and stayed in Pemagatshel till. I studied in Yurung Lower Secondary School till fourth standard. Unfortunately, due to land constraint, we got resettlement at Tsirang Dzongkhag. Due to past karmic, again I got a placement here at Pemagatshel district after my studies.

Before 1969, this place was called Khedung, and Zhongar Dzongkhag ruled it through the sub-divisional office in Shumar, known as Shumar Dungkhag. All economic activities were planed and executed from Zhongar District. Thus, lacking in development progress in Pemagatshel, whereby ending the influence of Zhongar Dzong and becoming the to Dungsumpa under new name “Pemagatshel” from 1974. Pemagatshel was made full fledge district in 1974, to enhance the social-economic development of the Dungsumpa.

Secondly, the word Pemagatshl meaning “Blissful Land of the Lotus”, was given by His Holiness Chabje Dujum Rinpoche, while empowering Rinchen Terzoe Wanglung in 1969. His Holiness was invited to empower this precious treasure teaching to the people by Lam Sonam Zangpo. According to some oral story, it is belived that, before Rinpoche’s arrival Pematatshel was known as “Khedung” meaning (Khe for khepas and ‘Dung’ for a village in sharchop). Today, Pemagatshel Dzongkhag is divided into 11 geogs, Choekholing, Chonshing, Chimong, Dechenling, Dungmaed, Khar, Yurung, Nanong, Shumar, Norbugang, and Zobel.

Lastly, to share a light on development activities in Pemagatshel. Until, 2008, the development activities in Dzongkha were very minimal comparing to other Dzongkha. It was declared as one of the least developed district in the country. However, with change in governance, Pemagatshel took a rapid change in its development activities.  Connecting all it’s gewogs with motor road, electricity, cellular communication, education, Basic Health Unit and other services. Peoples are making contributing for development activities through their every means. There seems to be balance between spiritual and economic development and people are enjoying in their own way, in every party of the district. I am happy that I have been posted to my ancestral homeland, to witness this joy in my fallow family members all around.

Golden Words From My Late Mom

With Elder Brother
In the journey of my life, many things and many people have mattered to me, and many of these same things and people have affected me in some profound, meaningful, and permanent way. Regardless of this, however, there is one person in my life who has done more for me than anyone else (my mother). It seems that almost everyone thinks that their particular mother is the best one, and they cite thousands of wonderful reasons that make them feel this way. It is undoubtedly true that there are many wonderful mothers out there, and they are all very important to the people that love and care for them. Even though I believe that my mother is great, I never mean to imply that she is better than other mothers. She is, however, better for me because we are so compatible.
However, she left us in 2010. From that day we became a motherless child in this peaceful and beautiful nation. Child without mom are like a bird without feather. It is a so unbelievers day that we had. Anyway, I would like to share some golden words from MY DEAR MOM through phone on 18th October 2010:
i.                   Study hard to support your younger brothers and sisters.
ii.                 Never enter into bad company
iii.              Always do good to your father and your families
iv.               Never create problems within your families and friends
v.                 It is up to you to choose good and bad things
vi.              Search a wife who can help you and your families
vii.            Always do your work with dedication without any fail
viii.         Always think twice before you do anything
ix.           In the absent of me, you all should look your father properly and never felt low without me.
With Two Younger Brothers
These are golden words from my lat mom which I vividly remember whatever I do in my life. Thank you so much my dear mom for being a good and perfect mom to us. We never lose your hope and aspiration. We really miss you and love you always.

My concern on Gewog Center road Black-topping

I really appreciate NC members for your concern towards the country and its people. The way you deliberate are much appreciated and benefit of our people. You all have done your part by doing authentic research and giving a more realistic examples. And, finally giving a recommendation and suggestion for improving of our country to the government. But my only concern here is, will it really implement and consider by day of the government? All most all members raise their concern for the quality of gewog center road blacktopping. For instance, the Trongsa NC member raises his concern on the quality of blacktopping and its thickness. He mentioned that the government has completed half-term, but they have finished only 32 gewogs blacktopping out of 205 gewogs. Similarly, most of the members raise their concern for quality of blacktopping, thickness and budget allocation made by government.

Since I am a concerned citizen of this peaceful country, I felt important to share my view on gewog center road blacktopping. The government has begun a first blacktopping project in the east for the 20.5 kilometre Bartsham-Riju Gewog Center road in Trashigang. It marked the beginning of gewog connectivity road blacktopping works across the country. Where, I felt so excited due to nature of  road I traveled to reach my hometown. I thought it will complete within one year, but today, after two years, it is sad to know the government have just completed 32 gewog. Again, it has 173 gewogs to complete at the end of present 11th five year plan. It may complete but it will definitely hamper to the quality of blacktopping. If we travel on the road where blacktopping has done, we can see the thickness of blacktopping is very thin. It is sure people will happy in the short term, but in the long term they are lost. I have traveled twice around the country where I have seen most of the blacktop road are not up to standard. I would suggest government or concern departments to execute the quality and thickness of it. So that whatever we invest should have long term impact to the people of our nation.
It is good that government is investing huge fund for the economic development of the country such as construction of road, school and others, but they fail to execute. Therefore, again I would like to suggest the government to execute the work after investing on it. So that allocating funds are used properly within time-frame. Lastly, I would like to request  government to assess the output and input without compromising quality of work.

My Trip to Japan

With President of SEISA University

The Royal Thimphu College with the goal of providing a well-rounded, global education in Bhutan, RTC had signed an MOU for academic and educational cooperation with the SEISA University Group of Japan in September 2010. Through such mutual exchanges and visits, the college with the vision of inspiring education in Bhutan hopes to provide global exposure to its students as well as develop friendship and cooperation among citizens of the two countries. Therefore, as a part of the academic partnership between the Royal Thimphu College and SEISA University, Japan, 10 RTC students accompanied by a faculty member were moved in Japan on a 10-day cultural exchange programmed every year. A team of 10 students accompanied by a faculty member are selected based on their interview score, academic performance and contribution made to the college.

First Time at Paro Airport
As it is lifelong opportunities I also submitted all related documents to International Relations Division for the full-funded scholarship type. Since, it is rare opportunities there are competition among the students like me for scholarship programme. After a vigorous selection process among the students for the programme it is so surprising to see my name under full funded scholarship programme.  I thank Royal Thimphu College’s management for selecting me as one of competent person for the programme.
Since, we will represent our nation we started practicing cultural base programme and presentation lead by our faculty member Madam Ngawang Yangden. All of us are so supportive to each other and we all are so excited for our journey to land of rising sun.
After three weeks of preparing that is on January 2016 we left our nation saying goodbye to all our parents, relatives and friends.
Dinner Time
Surprising all of us are experiencing first time in the air. We were ready and waiting for the take off. Firstly the plane went on the runway till the opposite end and all the while I was feeling as if I am sitting in a bus. But finally it took an about-turn and the speed increased exponentially. Within a few seconds we were high, up in the sky. The view was breathtaking. The roads seemed like bright lighted lines, the houses and cars seemed like toys. My ears were humming initially when the plane increased the height, but later on everything was fine.
Time just flew and very soon we landed at Bangkok. After a 6 hour break, the plane again took off. Almost everyone was asleep, but I was so happy and excited that I could not even think of sleeping. Again, there was similar view from the top.
We reached the Narita Airport at 12:30 PM where Our host SEISA University representative is desperately waiting for us. It is taking 2:30 hours to reach our campus where we stayed and refreshed.
Refreshing with Friends
During stayed in Japan, we have exposed to a variety of enriching activities such as Japanese culture, history, customs, traditions, education, sports and language. Moreover, we also got opportunities to visit places like Furukawa Mega Solar Power Plant, Panasonic Digital Network Museum (RI-Su-Pia) at Odaiba, Kentyo-ji temple,Tsurugaoka-Hachiman Shrine, Oiso Mayor, Yokohama campus and other places.
Shanghai Airport at China
Where we had the honor to interact and share our own experience with students and faculty members of university and high schools. And we also delivered a presentation on Bhutan covering economic, culture, people, environment, concept of Gross National Happiness, policies and others. The programme was so interesting and learning oriented, where we gain a better understanding of Japan and build a strong institutional partnership between the two institutions. And it also serves as a platform for Bhutanese students to interact with international students and experience student life in a foreign country.
One  things that really made me fall in love with Japan country (aside from futuristic cities and fascinating history) were the people. Everyone was incredibly friendly. When I talked to them, they were warm and very polite. Whatever the reason, it was very noticeable when compared with the other countries I visited. Japan would easily rank as number 1 in the friendliness scale. Thank you all for everything you have done for me and my team.
Today I want to thank Royal Thimphu college families and SEISA University for blooming me and giving me an opportunity to experience and explore new things in my life. You all gave me positive energy to overcome challenges in my life. Simultaneously, I would like to thank my parents and all my families for your help and support.
Farewell Party with Vice President, SEISA University

SCRUTINIZING MY DESTINY

After graduating from Royal Thimphu College on July 2015, I enter into the job market with full hope and aspiration. I never look back what others talk about job market rather I moved forward to my future. Before applying in any job be it in government, corporate or private sector I started joining tuition classes for the RCSC Preliminary exam.
College Days
On August 9, 2015 exactly one month of preparation, I applied for the PE exam. The gap between PE and RCSC exam is very important for us to make decisions of our life; whether you can do best in exam or not? For instance, if your decision is wrong, the opportunity cost related with your decision will be less. Regarding myself, I used trade off not because I am poor in decision-making; rather I had full hope to cross the benchmark in both exams.

After waiting for 2 months, the result declared on December 9, but it pushed up my blood pressure for a while. Anyway, I appreciated myself for what I did because the result was not bad as that. But I draw three conclusions from my RCSC result:
i.                   May be I am not the right person to be good civil servant
ii.                 May be I am not capable
iii.              May be it it decided by my karmic
As I am a man of words I never got de-motivate with my result rather I moved forward with much more confidence and aspiration. That was the day when I received calls from Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan for my final interview for final selection for the post of Internal Auditor.
With my Friend Sangay
On January 25, I got call from my friends saying that I got selected as internal auditor. That was the day where my career begins with lots of wishes from my parents, teacher, relatives and friends for my first and new career as Auditor.
February 1st 2016 is very important day in my life, as it is a day where my career begins in the corporate sector as auditor. The first day of my career went so smoothly and got lots of positive energy from Chief Executive Officer Dasho Namgay Lhendrup, Executive Director Mr. Sonam Dorji and Mr. Tshewang Jigme head of HR. I felt a bit proud of myself being selected from 560 graduates as Internal Auditor in one of a renowned company.
For at round one month we divided into group as per the program schedule prescribed by the Head of HR where we got opportunities to learn about various products and its core process from various heads of department. So, I want to thank them for being so passion and helpful.
After College
International we celebrate April 1st as fools’ day where we play with our friends calling April fool to each other by making fun. However, on that day I received an appointment letter as Branch Manager. I thought my friends might be kidding, but when I read, it was sealed and signed by Chief Executive Officer. The day after I received the appointment letter from company I move towards my destination.
After three days due to pray and wishes of my parents, families and relatives I reached at my work place without any problem. On one of auspicious day, I joined the office by praying to all my Gurus and lord for their blessing and guidance in order to fulfilled my vision and mission.
Today I am working as Branch Manager here at Pemagatshel with full of positive energy by rendering insurance services to all general public. Hope everyone here will treat me well and support to reach my destiny.

THANK YOU MESSAGE TO MY TEACHER

The day I land up in this beautiful world of happiness, I am so vulnerable to any kind. In that vulnerable state where I am struggling to recognize myself to the beautiful world, there are a few who stand by me. These people can be a parent, teacher, brother and sister.
Graduation Day
I always consider my mother as the first teacher for me; the next one is the teacher who had taken up the task of educating and guiding me throughout my life. Today, I honor my teachers who have in one way or another, played a part in shaping my life.
I found a teacher is more than an educator. A teacher can play the roles of parents, friends, brothers and sister. Therefore, I can say a teacher are everything. When I recollect my life in schools and college, I am not able to say how many times I have gone to my teacher for help. But, I can assure you more than a thousand times.
Class Hour
Today I would like to honor you for everything done for me. You have always been there for me and you never failed in any way. You have accepted my failings with good humor. You have always forgiven me for many mistakes and you never turned away without helping me. So, I honor you for being a wonderful people that you have been, that you are, that you always will be.
You have been all things to me. You have been a friend, relatives, a counselor, a mentor, a guide, an educator. You have shown me by example the way to lead my life as I continue my journey towards life. And you are driving force in my life. Thank you my dear teacher for your love and care.

Dedication to My Mom on Mother's Day

Here’s what I remember about my mother, who died from cancer when I was class 11: She smelled elegant, she had beautiful fair-haired, she was kind, she was beautiful, and she made me feel loved. My family did their best to keep her alive in my memory. My aunt always told me how smart, funny, and quick-witted she was. And my sister told me how much she suffers to raise us.
I thought surely God would realize that and wouldn't actually take her. I thought to myself, He probably just wants to teach us some lessons through her being sick. And besides, God had a whole year to do a miracle and heal her and we had a whole year to pray that He would do it!
My Mom Dream
But then I thought, what if he doesn't’ kept gnawing at me every day! I pray to god, the Creator of the universe. I fasted a day every week and prayed like I’d never prayed before. I begged God. I screamed, I cried over and over until I had no more tears left to cry. I wondered why God who had all power to heal wasn't choosing to heal my mom. Minutes, hours, days, and months were slipping away so quick! Mom was getting worse. Some days I could feel her slipping… slipping away from being my capable mom. Instead she was weakly lying in bed and family were taking care of her. Time seemed like a terrible enemy relentless in its pursuit of taking my mother away from me.
But on October 2011, she slipped away to be with us. Her body had become so weak and full of intense pain but now she was in perfect bliss in Heaven. And on October 2011 I became one of those motherless teenagers. Something I thought couldn't actually happen to me, because it only happened to strong kids that could take it and were prepared for it. Days after her death I heard her voice every day. I would hear her calling my name and I always remember chatting with her in phone.
From that day God put me on a journey, a journey I never ever wanted to walk. A painful journey He had entrusted to me and I had no choice but to walk it! The beginning of the journey was hard and I cried buckets of tears but the deep pain of living without mother everyday really hadn't set in. There were more people than could have ever imagined helping my family in whatever way they could, and prayers for us were poured out like a flood! But as the journey continued, other people resumed their normal lives. I wanted to, but I couldn’t - my life was changed forever and nothing would ever be normal again.
And that’s when it really started to sink in: she was gone and never coming back and I would live the rest of my life without a mother to be there for me. Those thoughts were like someone stamping on the already shattered pieces of my heart. Pain hit me like a giant wave and just as I would catch a breath a new wave of pain would wash over me. All the pain was so intense; the struggles were so hard I wondered how I would ever make it through them. I would lay on my bed by myself and just sob and shake till I was so exhausted I would fall asleep.
Losing Mom and all the grief and pain that came along with it was nothing like what I had expected and people had told me to expect. They said you grieve in stages like stair steps. But I think I heard a much better comparison from someone. Grief is like a giant pool of grief you are swimming around in, one side is very deep and one side is shallow. Some days you’re on the shallow side and your struggles are small and quite easily won. But other days you’re in the deep side, struggling just to keep from drowning in pain so severe you feel like a knife is being twisted in your heart!

Life without mother for me seem to be so worthless and useless. Even if I can rotate 360 degree, it seem to be useless without mother. Anyway Happy Mother's Day to every caring mother...!!!

Research on "Do social networking sites such as Face book and Twitter cause more harm than good?"

Social  networking  sites  act  as  a  social  medium  to connect  billions  of  social networking users with each other. A social networking site such as Face book, Twitter, MySpace and Bebo has dominated world in this modern era. These sites have flourished in the world of the internet and it offers a platform to keep in touch with friends. A social networking site has more negative impact than positive impact.  Therefore, social networking sites has negative effect such as  cyber bullying in our society, getting addicted to social network, affect on human health, wastage of individual time and not able to contact in reality in course of chatting.
Increase in social networking sites had lead to cyber bullying in our society. Due to increase in access of social networking sites such as Face book and Twitter, the risk of being victim of cyber bullying is increasing over the decades. For example, sharing of images of others is a common problem. According to the Bullying statistics report (2010), “93 % of teens use the social networking sites, of that 63% of teens are using it daily”. As reported in Kuensel (2013) image of two minor girls has been used as a fashion page on a Face book in order to fetch benefit without permission from rightful person. One of the prominent issues related to bullying has caused suicide among the youth. Such type of problem might arise in future if users do not remain conscious.
Immense use of Social networking had lead to addiction among huge users especially, youth. Youth normally get influenced by social networking sites because these sites provide opportunity for youth to share photos, comment, play game, chat and watch video clips. In turn, youths become addicted to social networking sites due to active use of Face book and Twitter. According to Mandal (2012) it has been seen that Face book and Twitter are more difficult to resist than cigarettes or alcohol. It shows how youth gets addicted to social networking sites.
Another important problem related to Social networking sites is that it cause harm on human biological system. Social networking causes problems such as depression, anxiety and stress of the users. According to Rosen, frequent young people used Facebook and Twitter as a chances to develop an antisocial personality disorder and to suffer from paranoia, anxiety and alcohol abuse (2011). Such type of problem may lead to tension among users. Other side effect of Social networking sites is that it harms human eye and brain due to excessive use of Facebook or Twitter. Not only that the social networking sites affect the children but also affect the adult both in physical and mental health.
Wastage of the time by social networker users is one of the negative effects of such networks. Youth waste their time by posting images, commenting and writing status and such type of problem is increasing day by day. According Performancing (2012) youths are forgetting what they should do, and waste their precious time, chatting and commenting in nonsense images.  For example, approximately 50% of Royal Thimphu College student waste their time on Facebook, game and video. This has resulted in low grade to student in college. More time is wasted in uploading picture and doing some kind of sites work.
Social networking sites help to contact through online but are not able to provide contact in reality in course of chatting. The Face book and Twitter account holder chat, share information and they never get an opportunity to meet in reality. Majority of people communicate though Face book and Twitter which isolate the people and this create more gaps between users. According to Performancing (2012) it shows that more time the students spend on these sites, the less time they will spend socializing with people around the world, without facing in reality.
In this tantalizing era, the world is marked by scientific development and made world different from past decades. In doing so the social networking sites posses both positive and negative effects. A social networking site has more harm than good. Including youth and adults are affected by social networking sites and it is becoming prominent, worldwide. The urgent solution to solve the problems can be traced by remaining more conscious to such sites. Firstly step can be followed by developing our own self esteem and control from addiction. Secondly, government has to frame rules and regulation to help to curb the problem related to social network. Thirdly, it is responsible for the parent to give advice to their child in order to prevent various problem related to social networking. In this rapidly developing world, people should be conscious enough about the negative impacts of Social networking sites. Therefore, all the users should be aware of such sites to prevent various effect of social networking to make life effective and efficient one.

Book Reviews on “The Power of Positive Thinking”

I am very thankful my brother-in-law gave me this book. I rarely, if ever, write reviews, but this book as impacted me and helped me in a ...
